Places to buy Tallit's and more.

By: Cheyenne

Well it's been a while since I've posted, but I was buying some skirts, etc. at one of the thrift stores close to where we live called Thrift Town. I was looking for a blanket, when I came across this item similar to a Tallit, except I think it was more like a shawl for a child or something. I couldn't pass it up, being it was 99 cents and I didn't have a Tallit. I was also thinking about the fact that Tallit's you can buy at Judaica stores are anywhere from $100 to $200 dollars or more depending on where you go and the quality of the Tallit. It would take me two or three months to save up for one from a Judaica store. So all you ladies out there wanting Tallit's hit your local thrift stores and see what you can find.

I know most of you will probably think thrift stores are nasty places, but you can actually get a lot of top quality name/designer brands at as low as 99 cents that are clean and in perfect condition. I got one skirt that needs some mending on one of the seams, but that's it. You can also find old games there that you can't find at other places. We found a French game called Milles Bornes there in perfect condition that looked like it hadn't even been used before. You can also get nice dish ware and other household items in nice condition at bargain prices. The only thing I wouldn't recommend buying from thrift stores is luggage and underwear. Bra's and undershirts are one thing, but panties?!!! NO!!!! As for the luggage the items they have at the thrift store we go to reek of cigarette smoke and dust covered, etc. I could be wrong though, maybe the luggage items at your thrift store are nice clean ones. I still stand beside my no panties from thrift stores thing though.

Now on to the other things I want to talk about. I found two restaurants that are perfect for Kosher observant Jews. Freddy's Burger's and Custard and Bruster's Real Ice Cream. Freddy's burger's and hot dogs are all beef, and the hot dogs don't have pork casings as far as I'm aware. Bruster's has awesome Ice Cream they make from scratch right there inside their stores. Some locations also carry Nathan's Hot Dogs! What's better than made from scratch Ice Cream and Kosher Hot Dogs from a Jewish Hot Dog Company?!!!! Back to Freddy's, for those of you who haven't tried Custard, it's a dessert of Greek origin that is made of three basic ingredients. Eggs,Milk, and Sugar. It is delicious baked or frozen. The frozen is very similar to Ice Cream except so much richer and creamier.  It is a little more expensive, but it's worth it.

For those of you who haven't been to Freddy's before, and are thinking about going, I recommend their Chicago Dog combo or just the single hot dog, and their Chocolate Brownie Delight (Get the Small or the Medium though, or risk a stomach ache or worse if you get the large!). Don't listen to me though, everyone has their own opinion. I do say that everyone should take it easy on the custard though, unless their a football player and need bigger portions! Blessings to y'all,
                                                                                   Cheyenne

Please.........
P.S. For all of you dog lover's out there, if you go to Bruster's take your furry friends with you the have outside benches and offer puppy cups. It's a small amount of vanilla custard with a dog bone stuck on the top of the scoop. It's perfectly healthy for you best furry friend and they will absolutely love you for it. We got one for our dog Pepper and he tried to get the whole thing, bone and all in his mouth at one time! It was so cute! You could also put a type of fruit on the top if your dog likes fruit. In our dog's case he would have onions, because he loves the things. As for us having to deal with his bad breath afterwards? Phew!!!!!
